On April 24, Raffi’s Troubadour Music (via Craft Recordings) will release I Am Kind: Songs for Unique Kids, the debut album from Lindsay Munroe.
Munroe, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and mother of three children with autism, is a new voice on the kindie scene who presents a collection of songs for all ages that are intended to offer kids encouragement. Raffi lends his voice to the album and its title track, “I Am Kind,” which is making its world premiere exclusively at the Toy Insider.
“I’m so happy to share this video for my song ‘I Am Kind.’ It was a unique, but fun experience making a video in the time of social distancing,” Munroe says. “I’m so proud of kids today. Their lives have changed so much — being out of school and staying home is not easy but I see so much kindness, bravery, and strength.”
Munroe found inspiration in the Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring and its pillars and principles. Last June, following the launch of her Sing Along with Lindsay YouTube series, Munroe connected with Raffi at a concert and a collaboration was born.
“Lindsay’s original songs are uniquely hers — sung with a lovely voice, with endearing, uplifting messages,” Raffi says. “Her vocal style is engaging and respectful. The songs’ messages are supportive of the challenges that neurodiverse kids and their families face, and their content aligns well with Child Honouring principles such as Respectful Love, Diversity, Caring Community and Nonviolence.”
I Am Kind: Songs for Unique Kids arrives during Autism Awareness Month. Appropriately, this year’s theme for the annual celebration is “Kindness Counts.”
“I hope that all families — especially those with neurodiverse kids — can feel inspired and uplifted by these songs,” Munroe says.
