This summer, trade in your sandy toes and pool parties for drive-in movies and virtual summer camp!

Walmart is helping families reimagine their summer plans with two different boredom-busting experiences: the star-studded Camp by Walmart and social distancing movie theater nights.

Camp by Walmart is not your ordinary day camp — instead, Walmart has enlisted the help of Camp toy stores and some major celebrities to step into the role of counselors to lead kids through arts and crafts, fitness challenges, talent shows, and more. Starting on Wednesday, July 8, families can access 50 Camp by Walmart activities for free by visiting the Walmart app. A variety of camp sessions will launch throughout the summer, including:

  • A morning kick-off with Head Camp Counselor Neil Patrick Harris, who will host 14 camp challenges, including musical Mad Libs and “Neil’s Charades.”
  • “The Great Family Challenge,” which features family-bonding activities, including Drew Barrymore taking campers through a makeup tutorial and LeBron James leading mental and physical activities with help from his I Promise school educators.
  • “Skills Camp,” a talent show hosted by experts who will teach campers new skills, such as Idina Menzel showcasing her singing (Maybe she’ll even sing “Let It Go” from Frozen!).
  • “Smarts and Crafts,” in which Designer Todd Oldham will lead projects that combine arts, crafts, and fashion.

Campers can participate in more than 200 activities throughout the summer by downloading the Walmart app and searching for Camp by Walmart in the app’s “services” tab from the bottom navigation.

Walmart is also working with Tribeca Enterprises to transform 160 of its store parking lots into contact-free, drive-in movie theaters this August. The experience will include family-friendly movie viewings, special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities, and concessions delivered straight to customer vehicles. Families can also order their drive-in necessities online for curbside pickup on their way to the movie.

The program will run through October with a total of 320 movie showings across the U.S. Additional details will be announced closer to the start of the tour, and you can find more information here.

It sounds like a summer loaded with fun!
