The classic kids’ book The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown is getting its own animated special on HBO Max, premiering later this month.
The Runaway Bunny tells the tale of a tiny bunny who yearns to leave home to explore the world around him before returning home to the comfort of his mother. This special truly captures the magic of the 1942 book with playful hand-drawn animation that breathes life into the original illustrations of Clement Hurd. Tracee Ellis Ross will narrate the poetry and sing a never-before-released lullaby also written by Brown, “Song of the Runaway Bunny,” based on a love ballad that originally inspired Brown to write the book.

The Runaway Bunny is produced and directed by Amy Schatz (Classical Baby) and will debut on HBO Max on March 25.
