Even if your kids weren’t around in the ‘90s, they can finally learn what it means to party like it’s 1999 with the Tamagotchi Pix Party from Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America.

Kids can raise and nurture their alien pets in the typical Tamagotchi style, but now they can also host parties for their Tamagotchi friends with balloons, confetti, group photos, and even ways to cook for their guests. There are also new characters and mini games. Recommended for kids ages 6 and up, the party-themed device is available in two different shells: Confetti or Balloons.

Like the original Tamagotchi Pix, this version also has a built-in camera that kids can use to take photos with their Tamagotchi character and at their party. With the party feature, kids can send invites out, host multiple guests, and select themed food and games to play, just like a real party. Kids can play by themselves, but it’s even more fun if their friends have a Tamagotchi Pix device, too, because they can merge the gameplay by reading their friends’ Tama code to go on playdates (or plan playdates for a later time), exchange gifts, and explore together. One Tamagotchi character will jump into the screen of the other, which really makes it feel like the characters are alive like real pets.

The gameplay is more interactive than ever before. Kids can customize their items and swipe their finger across the touch buttons to bathe or pet their character. There are 24 different Tamagotchi characters that kids can end up with based on how well they take care of them. Kids can also help their characters find a profession that they can bring back to their home planet, a new feature that differs from the original Tamagotchi.

There are 18 mini games that keep the pets happy and help the players earn Gotchi points, including three new games. In Bingo, players can test their luck and win prizes when they get three matches in a row. In Gift Game, kids can gift an item to receive a present. In DJ Play, kids can swipe in the direction of the arrows to win.

Like all Tamagotchi devices, the Tamagotchi Pix Party is compact and easy to take on the go, making it a great stocking stuffer or travel toy. For even more ways to play at home, kids can also complete missions on tamagotchi.com to download items and gifts to their device.

The Tamagotchi Pix Party has all the fun of the original Tamagotchi virtual pets — the nurturing, portability, and mini games — with exciting upgrades that make it even more fun for a new generation of kids.
