SSB_Wii_U_Box_ArtFollowing a strong launch of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS last week, with more than 2.8 million sold worldwide, Nintendo has announced that the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will launch in North America on November 21.

The first wave of Nintendo’s interactive amiibo figures, a Toy Insider Hot 20 pick for this year, will launch the same day. Twelve iconic Nintendo characters will be included in the first wave, including Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. A second wave of six more figures set to launch in December, including Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit, and Captain Falcon.

The amiibo figures will interact wirelessly with Super Smash Bros. in unique new ways. Players can tap the figures to the Wii U GamePad controller to activate them and bring them to life in the game. Additional amiibo compatible games include Mario Party 10, Mario Kart 8, and Yoshi’s Woolly World.

Additionally, for old school fans, Nintendo will launch an adapter that allows users to connect up to four original Nintendo GameCube or WaveBird controllers to the Wii U for play in Super Smash Bros. The company will also launch a standalone Nintendo GameCube controller emblazoned with the iconic Super Smash Bros. insignia. All items are set to launch on November 21.
