Watch kids grow, and watch ‘em go!

Earlier today, Sprint announced a new wearable device that’s designed to give parents peace of mind when their kids are on the go. The WatchMeGo watch for kids offers unique monitoring and communication features. The durable and scratch-resistant watch is designed to keep parents updated on their kids’ whereabouts using real-time GPS location tracking on an accompanying mobile app. Additionally, parents can stay in touch with their little ones through the watch and the app. Kids can send and receive voice messages on the watch, and parents can send text messages from their WatchMeGo app straight to the device.

“WatchMeGo is the perfect solution for parents with little ones who aren’t yet ready for their first phone,” said Doug Smith, vice president of product innovation and product marketing at Sprint, in a statement. “With the ability to track the location of your child almost anywhere using GPS and communicate through text or voice messages, WatchMeGo is an ideal addition to your family’s connected lifestyle.”

Additional security features allow parents to receive automated alerts when their kid’s watch enters or exits a predefined safety zone (i.e., their school or neighborhood). In an emergency, kids can press an “SOS” button on the stylish wearable, which will send an alert directly to their parent’s smartphone.

Kids can also access parent-approved activities and entertainment through the watch’s built-in Kidomi app. Its library includes kid-friendly entertainment videos, e-books, educational games, and activities.
