Consider your Christmas plans sorted (no, not just because of our handy Holiday Gift Guide)! Pixar’s Soul will debut directly on Disney+ on Dec. 25.
The film follows the life, afterlife, and possibly pre-life of a middle school band teacher who accidentally falls into a manhole cover after getting the opportunity of a (yes) lifetime. He decides he’s not done living and fights to make it back to Earth — teaching a new friend about the power of being alive along the way. Check out the trailer below.
It comes from the Academy Award-winning director of Inside Out and Up and stars some pretty incredible voices. Jamie Foxx plays Joe, the ill-fated teacher, and Tina Fey plays his new pal, 22, who doesn’t actually want to go to Earth. Other notable voices include Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Angela Bassett, and Daveed Diggs. The movie also includes original Jazz music from Jon Batiste and a score composed by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Soul will top of the end of the weirdest year of most of our lives, giving a new perspective in a time we need it most. It will be available to all subscribers at no additional cost.
