It’s official: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the BIGGEST video game movie of all time! And, after witnessing the continued cinematic exploits of SEGA‘s most famous, chili-dog-eating hedgehog on the big screen, kids are gonna want to bring the excitement back home.

Now, kids can send the Blue Blur on adventures throughout the neighborhood with the Sonic Speed R/C, the fastest Sonic the Hedgehog toy ever!

If Jakks Pacific was swinging for the fences (and yes, it is a baseball reference because Sonic loves the game!), then they knocked it out of the park with this one.

A 6-inch scale, articulated Sonic action figure stands atop a skateboard-style balance board flanked by clear, rubber wheels that feature an electrified look. Kids can use the ring-shaped controller to send Sonic speeding through the house and beyond with forward motion or some completely sick spins.

After hitting the special turbo button, the wheels will illuminate with the electrifying glow of blue LED light that gives Sonic his signature blur as he zips on by.

Parents should note that the Sonic Speed R/C needs eight AA-size batteries to power Sonic’s adventures. While the toy does come with batteries included, they are truly for demo purposes only and will need to be replaced with fresh batteries at the same time that you place batteries in the ring-shaped controller. Once those batteries are installed, the action is on!

This R/C is tons of fun and a break from the usual four-wheeled R/C action. It’s also a cool way to bring Sonic into a new category alongside the extensive range of Sonic the Hedgehog 2-inspired action figures, vehicles, and playsets that were released to support the new movie.

One pro tip: While kids should love this, your dog might not. Just pointing out that if you have a canine friend in the house, they might not be a Sonic fan.

Gotta go fast!
