Think I might retire my squishies and fidget spinner as my stress relieving toys, and keep on smashing these bad boys.

ZURU introduces Smashers, a line of plastic red balls that each house a zany sports character inside. The technology is simple: To free this mystery character, you have to crack open the Smashball—but don’t gently drop it, don’t toss it to a friend, don’t shake it, And don’t try to crush it between your palms. With Smashers, SMASHING is key, so find a hard surface and throw that ball at FULL FORCE, my friend. SMASH IT. Watch it shatter, and go find where your mystery collectible popped out to see what you got.

The ball will crack into six, smooth, even-sized pieces and the mystery figure will be revealed. Kids can search on the collector’s guide included to see which character was lodged in their Smash ball. Categories include Super Rare, Ball Stars, Not-So-Fast-Food, Hard Hitters, and more! Each character has its own Smash Point Value, and—you guessed it—the more rare the Smasher, the more Smash Points it’s worth. Kids will love to trade these little dudes with their friends and grow their collection—there’s even a collectors’ app!

And smashing your Smashers is not a one-time experience. Each ball can be pieced back together (if only everything the kids broke could be reassembled so easily, amiright?). While the process of rebuilding does require a bit of patience and elbow grease (it’s one of those things that you won’t want to stop until you get it), kids can watch this rebuild video if they get stumped. While dropping the Smasher will definitely excite kids, reassembling the Smasher will challenge them.

Whether or not kids want to keep their character friend inside the ball or free him after *ze smash* is their choice—although it is easier to rebuild the Smash ball without placing the figurine back inside.

There are many ways to play with Smashers once you get them out of their shell, including a fun game on the back of each collector’s guide that challenges kids to knock down their characters and tally up as many Smash Points as they can. Kids can also engage in imaginative play with the sports characters and play sets available. The Smashers Team Bus, for example, can hold up to 50 smashers and opens up into a basketball court where kids can catapult their smashers into the net.

Kids can also keep their Smashers in mint condition in the basketball or soccer ball collector’s tins, each of which can hold up to 50 Smashers.

Overall, Smashers are fun pocket-sized collectibles that hold the element of surprise as kids wait to see what’s inside their ball. Unlike blind boxes or bags, Smashers’ unique opening mechanism will “wow” kids as they get to watch their ball shatter and finally meet their new tiny pal. Plus, play sets will allow kids to have adventures with the characters. Collect ’em. Trade ’em. Smash ’em.

And now, thanks to Smashers, I can fulfill my fantasy of making a dramatic exit. Watch the Smasher shatter as I walk away. Fingers crossed it’s a super rare character inside.
