Everyone sings. Some like to sing loud and proud for the world to hear, while others (A.K.A. me) prefer to trap their vocal vibrations inside the confines of a car or bathroom shower.

Whichever way you slice it, singing is fun and it’s even better with a friend. With Jakks Pacific‘s new Disney Frozen Sing-A-Long Elsa, kids can confidently sing the full-length song “Let It Go” alongside the Princess of Arendelle and set their voices free. Let’s call her a personal singing sidekick of sorts.

Designed for kids ages 3 and up, Sing-A-Long Elsa includes an Elsa doll, a pair of shoes, a dress, a microphone, and an instruction sheet with song lyrics. Three “AAA” batteries are included in the box for Elsa, but you’ll also need two more to get her mic working.

Elsa’s microphone is made of hard plastic, appropriately colored to match her blue and white dress. Parts of the mic even have a certain sparkle to them, which I found to be a nice touch and a detail worth appreciating. I mean, every performer has to look good before taking the stage, right? Elsa herself is also quite cute. Her long blonde hair comes braided, but kids can certainly let it unravel and style it how they please. With poseable arms and legs, kids are also free to set Elsa in an array of different singing positions. I was able to position her standing completely upright, as well as sitting down.

What sets this doll apart from the rest is how interactive she is. When it comes time to put on a show, kids have options. They can either use the real working microphone to sing solo, or they can join forces with Elsa and form a duet. When kids hold the mic to her mouth, Elsa will start to sing the popular Disney hit “Let It Go.” When kids are ready for their shot in the spotlight, they can simply take control of the mic and let loose. At this point, Elsa will stop singing. It’s your time to shine now, kids. Sing your hearts out. After a verse (or two), kids can put the microphone in front of Elsa again and hear her pick up right where they left off. It’s kind of like musical tag, minus the running. Yay, no cardio! Elsa’s dress and necklace will even blink and light up as she sings, further adding to performance. Tackling a song as great as this one takes teamwork, and in this case, the more the merrier!

Not only does Sing-A-Long Elsa encourage kids to perform and break out of their shell, she also promotes role-playing and social interaction skills. As long as Elsa has her microphone, there’s no limit to how many kids can join in on singing the song.

I just have one piece of advice for those too nervous to sing: just duet.

(You didn’t think I’d write a review without a pun, did you?)
