I need all Shopkins fans to freak out with me about the sheer awesomeness of the Shopkins Supermarket Scramble Game from Pressman Toy. The game is so much fun to play and it includes two exclusive Shopkins made just for this game (OMG).
You can play as one of four charaters: Chee Zee, Apple Blossom—and wait for it-—WAIT FOR IT—exclusive Shopkins Rolla Tape or Miss Candy. While we already all know and love Chee Zee, the cheeky slice of cheese, and Apple Blossom, the sweet green apple, Rolla Tape is an adorable roll of tape with a surprised/guilty look on her face, and Miss Candy is a colorful, Smarties-like roll of candy.
Designed for two to four players ages 5 and up, the object of the game is to be the first to collect a Shopkins Color Token from each of the four different areas on the game board and reach the finish space. Players simply spin the spinner to go around the game board and collect Color Tokens from the different areas of the supermarket: dairy, bakery, fruit & veg, and frozen.
But, the catch is in the special Runaway Cart and STOP! spaces. If you land on a Runaway Cart space, you must move to any other Runaway Cart Space, ending your turn. The STOP! spaces near Sundae Summits can really get in the way, because if you land on it, not only does it end your turn, but you also can’t move from it until you spin a specific number (such as spinning a 1, 2, or 3 to cross).
The game comes with the game board, four Shopkins characters, 16 Shopkins color tokens, and one spinner card. Setting up simply requires snapping the spinner into the spinner card and punching out the Shopkins tokens from the sheet, so once you do it once—you’re done!
The only problem I see with this game is kids claiming which Shopkins character they will be (I will fight someone to always be Miss Candy. Not really, but you get the point). It’s like Monopoly—I will always be the top hat!
The Supermarket Scramble Game is true to the Shopkins phrase, “Once you shop… You can’t stop!”
