Learn to build strong communities with Little Neighbors: Building a Better World Together. | Source: Sesame Workshop

Everyone could learn a thing or two about being a good neighbor from the residents of Sesame Street — the kindest and most caring neighborhood around. Sesame Workshop is partnering with the PSEG Foundation to launch Little Neighbors: Building a Better World Together, bilingual resources that will help families build strong communities with the help of Sesame Street characters.

Families can head to sesamestreetincommunities.org to access free videos, activities, and stories that showcase six core community values: safety, the environment, compassion, volunteering, self-improvement, and being a good neighbor. The Little Neighbors resources include seven videos featuring Sesame Street friends; a digital storybook called The Little Neighbors Club; activity pages that show kids how to help others, volunteer, and take care of the Earth; an activity book that inspires kids to build a better world for the future; and a volunteer tip sheet, webinar, and articles for adults.

The videos will feature engaging stories, such as Cookie Monster volunteering for the first time at a bake sale and Oscar the Grouch learning to appreciate nature and take care of the environment with help from Slimey the Worm. The program debuted with a Facebook Live event featuring Elmo, Hooper’s Store proprietor Alan, and other Sesame Street friends.

The Little Neighbors resources are available online for free and will also be distributed through the PSEG Foundation’s network of local schools and libraries and as part of the Sesame Street in Communities program.
