I heard through the ape-vine that Crayola released a safari-themed version of the Scribble Scrubbie craft set, and I’m not one to turn down an adventure. So, I couldn’t wait to test it out. The Crayola Scribble Scrubbie Safari features four new pet figures that kids can color and draw designs on to create the safari of their dreams, including a monkey, an elephant, a giraffe, and a lion.

The figures start off as a blank slate with a solid white base and a fuzzy texture that’s easy to draw on with markers. That’s the whole idea behind this set — kids can use the six included markers to customize the figures anyway they want. I gave the giraffe some flashy, heart-shaped spots that would cause a jungle “giraffic” jam.

When kids are ready to give the animals a color change, they can bring their safari pets to the watering hole, aka the oasis tub, which they can fill with water. The set includes a little brush that kids can use to scrub their pets clean, washing off the designs to bring them back to their blank, white bases. The tub also has a detachable slide and a button that kids can push to make water come out of the palm tree like a luxury rain shower that would fit right in inside a glamping tent.

Kids can dry off the squeaky-clean animals to customize them with brand-new designs again and again for endless play. The set is designed for kids ages 3 and up, so even if they get messy or bored with their designs, it’s no big deal because they can start over as many times as they want.

There is a collectible factor, too: Expansion packs are sold separately, so kids can collect a total of 12 safari animals. That’s a jungle you can take pride in!
