robiis

Play Works Studio has developed a line of STEM-inspired educational toys launched with a crowdfunding campaign. The toy line, Robiis, teaches programming skills in the context of telling stories and solving problems collaboratively.

Robiis players use a visual mobile app to program three robot creatures to solve puzzles and challenges at different levels of difficulty. The game boards are built with hexagonal tiles that can be arranged in a variety of different ways to build ever more challenging puzzles for single-player use or for large groups and classrooms.

The crowdfunding campaign has a goal of $30,000 and will rune through June 1. Robiis kits are available for individual purchase or as a donation to a school who has requested kits—it takes 10 starter kids to support a class of 20-30 kids. Supporters can pre-order the starter kit for $129.
