PopCap Games has found a way to combine two of my kids’ favorite things: zombies and the game RISK. That’s right: The company debuted Risk: Plants vs. Zombies Collector’s Edition last month.

Produced by USAopoly, under license from Hasbro Inc., and in conjunction with PopCap, this game takes the characters from the Plants vs. Zombies video game and puts them into a tabletop battle for domination! This custom version of two-player Risk offers a double-sided gameboard and three head-to-head ways to play: Tower Defense, Mission Objective, or Total Domination. There’s a detailed map of the original town of Brainsborough on one side and the familiar Plants vs. Zombies backyard from the video game on the other. Players can choose to be plants or zombies and then pick their battlefield, vying to take over the whole board.

In this version of the game, the armies are now Peashooters and Threepeaters who attempt to prevent the consumption of human brains everywhere by the Brown Coat Zombies and Zombie Mobs. The two-player Risk: Plants vs. Zombies Collector’s game is for kids ages 10 and up, and has a suggested retail price of $29.99. It is available now at pvzstore.com and Amazon, and will also be sold at Kohl’s, Go! Games, ThinkGeek, and other North American specialty retailers.

The only thing better is the Risk: The Walking Dead game my son spotted at a recent convention for the popular show. That’s definitely geared toward the older crowd, but would make one heck of a holiday gift for the teen boys!
