In just over a month, on Oct. 8, Pokémon fans will have a new movie to enjoy.
The previously announced Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is officially heading to Netflix next month. This will be the 23rd animated Pokémon movie in the franchise’s 25 years, and it follows a human boy named Koko who is raised by the Mythical Pokémon Zarude in the forest of Okoya. One day he meets Ash and Pikachu, giving him his first human friend. Then, they must work together to help protect the forest when it is in danger!
The Pokémon Co. also released an international trailer for the movie today, which gives fans a better look at the characters and features two original songs by the artist Cyn that were written for the movie.
To celebrate the upcoming release, trainers will be able to receive Dada Zarude and Shiny Celebi — both as featured in the movie — in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield starting today. To get the characters, players must sign up for Pokémon Trainer Club email notifications by Sept. 25. Register in this way, and you’ll get an email with a distribution code for both Pokémon on Oct. 7.
Fans can also look forward to a themed crossover event in Pokémon GO to celebrate the movie. Details will be on the way soon!
