The beloved Italian fairy tale of Pinocchio is heading to the small screen next year, thanks to the Rainbow Group and animation pioneer Iginio Straffi.Â
The new, CGI animated series Pinocchio and Friends draws from the 1996 Adventures of Pinocchio film from Carlo Collodi in an imaginative way. Pinocchio and Friends is created entirely from the point of view of kids, for kids. It spins the classic tale with modern imagery and technology without sacrificing any of the magic.Â
In this new adaptation, Pinocchio lives in the modern world as a puppet wishing to become a real boy with the help of the fairy with turquoise hair. Fans will still find characters from the original story, such as Gepetto and Pinocchio’s talking cricket sidekick, as well as new faces, such as Freeda the pirate doll.
Straffi spoke about the project in a press release, saying: “I won’t hesitate to reveal a contemporary Pinocchio who speaks to children in a light-hearted, educational show that empowers their dreams. Families will love this compelling series and kids will find their new TV hero in Pinocchio.”Â
Pinocchio and Friends will make its magical debut late next year.
