Get into the thick of October with Halloween-themed episodes from some of the most popular PBS Kids series.

Hero Elementary debuted a new Halloween episode this week. In “When Fur Flies,” something high in the sky is causing a trail of trouble across Citytown, but it’s unclear whether it is a bird, a plane, or something else entirely. Sparks’ Crew observes the properties of things gone wrong downtown, which leads them to understand what the problem is. In “Pumpkin Palooza,” a little girl’s decorated pumpkin gets ruined and Sparks’ Crew comes to the rescue. After learning that the culprit is a hungry squirrel, they work together to design and build a solution to protect all the decorated pumpkins in Citytown.

A half-hour special of Clifford the Big Red Dog will premiere on Oct. 18. In “The Halloween Costume Crisis,” Clifford and Emily Elizabeth are excited for Halloween, but while hanging the perfect decorations and putting on their costumes, they discover that Clifford’s doesn’t fit. Emily Elizabeth asks Mr. Howard for help to figure out a new “perfect” costume for Clifford. In the end, they realize that Halloween will be magical no matter what, as long as best friends spend it together. In “Clifford’s Howl-o-ween,” Halloween Night has arrived and all of Birdwell Island is ready for candy, costumes, and scares — except Clifford, who is actually scared of one monster in particular. When the evening gets a little too spooky for Clifford, Emily Elizabeth and friends learn that there’s a difference between fun-scary and scary-scary. Can they help Clifford have a fun Halloween, too?
