Disney and Pixar’s Onward (reviewed here) brings its magical quest (and garbage-eating unicorns) into theaters this weekend, and in select locations — 34 screens in the U.S. and Canada — the adventure will debut in 4DX.
4DX is truly an experience — immersing the audience in enhancements that hit on all of the senses with special effects, including wind, rain, motion, scents, and more. For Onward, the engineers at 4DX worked with Pixar to create “magical” motion and lightning effects to enhance the cinematic presentation.
Over the past year, 4DX technology was used to enhance Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and more. Upcoming 4DX presentations include Mulan, Trolls World Tour, and Black Widow.
Most 4DX presentations only run for a week or two, so be sure to catch Onward while you can. For a full list of participating theaters, click here.
And, if your kids can’t wait to bring the adventure home, Mattel has a full range of Onward action figures and vehicles that are available at major retailers right now.
