You’re off to great places, today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!

Dr. SeussOh, the Places You’ll Go! is a graduation mainstay, quoted at ceremonies far and wide. It’s only fitting that Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are hosting an Oh, the Places You’ll Go! virtual graduation celebration to recognize the class of 2020 in light of nationwide cancellations of graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19. The virtual ceremony will feature readings, graduation photo-sharing, inspirational words, and more, all inspired by the book Oh, the Places You’ll Go! on its 30th anniversary.

WWE wrestler John Cena will kick off the virtual festivities today with a commencement keynote that includes a reading from Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and his own words of wisdom for graduates of all ages. Fans can tune in on Cena’s Twitter feed (@JohnCena) at noon EDT, and his reading will be available on Facebook, where additional readings and remarks from educators, first responders, celebrities, authors, and illustrators will roll out all month long. Astronaut Scott Kelly will also join the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! campaign.

Families can support the Class of 2020 by posting photos of their 2020 graduate, or by posting their own graduation photo using the hashtag #ohtheplaces2020, and tagging three friends to continue the chain. For the month of May, Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises will donate one book to First Book (up to 20,020 books) for every in-feed post tagged with #ohtheplaces2020. First Book will distribute the donations to classroom libraries this fall.

Random House Children’s Books will release a new Oh, the Places You’ll Go! coloring book for all ages in November, featuring designs and patterns based on the original. Dr. Seuss Enterprises will also offer a range of Oh, the Places You’ll Go! merchandise including a special Build-A-Bear inspired by the illustrations in the book, party supplies and stationery from Oriental Trading Company, and more.
