This first-ever Transformers comedy series is “more than meets the eye!”
Hasbro’s entertainment studio, eOne, has partnered with Netflix to launch Transformers: BotBots, the first comedy series in the Transformers franchise.
BotBots launched in 2018 as a line of collectibles for Transformers fans. The backstory is that a mall gets hit with Energon energy on a stormy night, giving everyday objects life and converting them into tiny, mischievous Transformer robots called BotBots. The wide range of characters hails from the food court, the hardware store, and other locations throughout the mall. These BotBots hide quietly on mall store shelves during the day and jump headfirst into adventure at night.
They form squads based on the store they came from, but not every bot was in their correct store when they came alive. One misfit group of BotBots in particular, appropriately named “The Lost Bots,” puts everyone in danger when it runs into the mall security guard. Will these zany bots overcome their differences, defeat the security guard, and gain acceptance with the other bots?
The series is produced by Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt — known for their work in Spider-Man, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, and Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters — and is set to premiere on March 25 on Netflix with 10 22-minute episodes.
