When I was younger, I was obsessed with the Cartoon Network show, Totally Spies. It was about three girls just trying to get high school – on top of being undercover super agents solving crises around the world. On their missions, they were given top-notch spy gadgets hidden as every day items, from a laser lipstick and scanner sunglasses, to a parachute belt and a boomerang barrette, and so much more. The Nerf Rebelle Secrets and Spies Secret Shot from Hasbro is a super adorable, fun product that seems like it could also come straight from the show.
Disguised as a purse, the Secret Shot can quickly convert into a blaster with the press of a diamond-shaped button (I wish my bag in real life also folded out into a Nerf gun). The blaster, made for kids eight and up, comes with 4 darts, which can be stashed inside when it is closed, so they are always with kids as they continue their super secret spy missions. All four of them at once can be placed in the shooter, and can quickly be shot one at a time. To shoot, all kids need to do is convert the blaster, slide the handle back and then forward, and then pull the trigger. Slide the button and swing it closed to convert it back to the bag.
I was honestly a bit skeptical when the box said that the darts can shoot up to 75 feet, but my jaw practically dropped when I pulled the trigger for the first time. The darts shot out the blaster so fast that it traveled the entire length of the office, and would have gone farther if they didn’t hit a wall.
Signature to the Nerf Rebelle line, the blaster comes with a dart with a secret message on it. The included decoder allows kids to read their messages – whether they’re sending it to someone or a friend is sending it to them during a mission. Mine read, “Spy Style,” and others say phrases like, “LOL,” and “RUN!”
Kids can keep the bag closed to go about their secret spy activities, and can open it with the press of a button. I can see kids wanting to play with this all day long, whether its friends playing with one another or little sisters tricking their brothers. Not only is the purse cute for little kids, but it is a simple storage solution and is easy for kids to carry.
The Nerf Rebelle Secret Shot is part of the larger Nerf Rebelle line, including bows and shooters, so kids can collect other awesome products in the series or battle their friends with different gear.
