My obsession for Nerf blasters is apparently showing no signs of wavering, especially as even more impressive ones come across my desk from Hasbro. The Nerf N-Strike Elite line is getting pretty amped up this holiday season (check out my review of the Demolisher 2-in-1 blaster here), which is very exciting for Nerf enthusiasts such as myself. There seems to be more power, more distance, and—with the introduction of the Nerf N-Strike Elite Nerf Cam ECS-12 blaster—more upgraded technology than ever before.
This blaster brings the Nerf battle to a whole other level and allows it to live on past the initial blast. Packed with all the innovation and connectivity that kids today look for in toys, the Nerf Cam ECS-12 blaster allows them to capture and share footage of their battles, missions, and whatever other Nerf adventures they embark on. Along with being the first Nerf blaster with a built-in camera, it sends N-Strike Elite darts flying up to 90 feet, so Nerf fans longing for power and distance won’t be disappointed either.
The record/stop recording button on the blaster is located at the end of the barrel where you hold your guide hand, so with a small thumb movement, you can begin recording your footage. Since it comes with an SD card, kids can easily share their adventures they record. The color screen is clear, and overlays a crosshair, so you can use it as a tool to get the most accurate shot. Pulling the acceleration trigger before launching the darts allows for a fast, smooth, jam-free shot. However, if you do find yourself with a jammed blaster, the jam clearing door allows for a quick and easy fix, so you’re not sitting out of the battle too long. I love that this blaster integrates innovative technology without sacrificing Nerf quality and power. It’s the perfect balance that allows kids to relive their adventures over and over again.
The added camera allows kids to record their missions and battles and display them instantly on the playback screen. They can also download them to share with friends—to show off their skills, brag about victories, and make their opponents nervous. The blaster includes a 4GB memory card, which can hold up to 2,000 photos or 3 hours of video, so there’s no need to worry about running out of space. It also includes a 1.77-inch color screen, a 12-dart clip, and 12 N-Strike Elite darts. (It also requires eight AA batteries that are not included, so make sure you have them on hand for immediate play!)
