Social distancing can be tough for kids who thrive on playtime with their friends. With National Best Friends Day coming up on June 8, kids can still celebrate their friendships — they just have to get more creative this year!

Even if kids can’t see their besties IRL, there are plenty of innovative ways to play from afar. Parents can help kids set up a virtual playdate using FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, or any video conferencing app. Kids can take some of their favorite toys and games, and play digitally with their friends.

The more interactive the toy or game, the better. Kids can raise virtual pets together and do daily check-ins to see how they’re doing, make friendship bracelets or other DIY projects on-screen, play games that they both own, or meet up in their favorite video game.
