Get your dancing shoes ready!
Kids can discover a love of dance with Bunheads, the first picture book in a new series from ballerina Misty Copeland and illustrator Setor Fiadzigbey. The story follows a young Misty preparing for the Coppélia ballet, chronicling her first day of class through auditions, culminating in the performance. In the new book, Misty learns to lean on her new dance friends for inspiration and to rely on her own can-do spirit to dance her best. The book includes themes of friendship, teamwork, dedication, and hard work to inspire readers to follow their dreams.
Copeland, in addition to being a bestselling author, is a principal soloist at American Ballet Theater (ABT) in New York City. Copeland has written other dance-themed books, including picture book Firebird and her memoir Life in Motion.
The 32-page book, currently available for preorder from Penguin Random House, will be available in September.
