They may cause a lot of mischief — but we love those goofy Minions.

For those unfamiliar with the Despicable Me animated movie franchise produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, it centers on Gru, a reformed super-villain, his family, and his yellow-colored Minions. While we may be used to a super-villain and his minions being evil and unlikeable, Gru and the Minions are the opposite — they’re downright lovable.

The Despicable Me franchise began with the 2010 film followed by sequels in 2013 and 2017. Because of their huge cultural popularity among kids and adults alike, in 2015, the creators released a prequel featuring the Minions. A sequel to that movie was to be released this year, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Minions: The Rise of Gru will be released in 2021.

Yet, anyone who loves the adorable mischief-making Minions can get their mini-fix with select merchandise that is on store shelves now. One product, in particular, is the Illumination’s Minions The Rise of Gru: Boogie Dancing Bob from Just Play.

Standing about 11 inches tall, and sporting stylish denim overalls, the animated plush Boogie dancing Bob wears his signature goggles that prominently display his unique eye color. Minions fans, like this reviewer, will love Bob for just as he is, however, kids will love the added bonus of what Bob can do — and that is boogie!

Start the dance party by flipping the switch to ‘On’ on the bottom of Bob’s black shoes. Then squeeze Bob’s hand to hear him speak ‘Minionese’ and play a dance party song. As the song starts, Bob starts his dance by moving his arms up and down to the music, then he’ll spin side to side. But the fun doesn’t stop there: During his epic dance movies, Boogie Dancing Bob shakes his booty, too.

While the dance lasts just 30 seconds, and that is the only feature from the toy, Minions fans will love having their own Minion collectible at home. The mechanics are loud, but the cuteness factor wins. While the toy is geared to kids ages 3 and up, younger kids will laugh and be entertained when Bob starts his Boogie — so expect a lot of giggles!
