Quack quack quack!
Disney+ has found stars for its upcoming 10-episode series based on the ‘90s Mighty Ducks franchise that shared and inspirational sports tale about a ragtag group of hockey players.
Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood, Vampirina) — who also serves as an executive producer — will take on the role of mom Alex, while Brady Noon (Good Boys, Boardwalk Empire) is set to play her son Evan.
Disney+ also confirmed that Emilio Estevez will lace up his skates once again and reprise his role as Coach Gordon Bombay.
The new series picks up as the Mighty Ducks have evolved from a team of scrappy underdogs into a powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan (Noon) is cut from the Ducks, he and his mom (Graham) set out to build their own team and challenge the ultra-competitive nature of youth sports.
“It was an easy decision to bring back the Quack Attack with a modern and fresh twist,” said Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content at Disney+, in a statement. “For a generation, The Mighty Ducks stood for teamwork, friendship, and heart and we’re excited to see the Ducks fly together once again and bring the franchise to new audiences around the world.”
The new series will premiere later this year on the streaming platform.
