LEGO Super Mario

A familiar plumber with a red hat, blue overalls, and a big mustache is making the jump from pixels to the playroom.

LEGO Super Mario is a new product line from Nintendo and the LEGO Group that changes how kids can interact with Super Mario in the physical world by using an electronic, interactive Mario figure to collect coins in levels built with LEGO Bricks.

“We are very excited to bring Mario into the physical world through interactive and social LEGO play,” says Julia Goldin, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of the LEGO Group. “With this experience, we will help millions of kids with love for Mario to engage and play in a completely new way, where they are in control of creating and playing games with their favorite character. By seamlessly incorporating the latest digital technology, LEGO Super Mario is a highly social, interactive, and collaborative experience for kids.”

While no firm release date has been set, the LEGO Group says that its LEGO Super Mario sets will be available later this year.
