KamibotKamibot is a small programmable robot that lets kids write their own codes and add paper craft skins. It encourages kids to learn how to code in a fun way so that they will be inclined to stick with it. Kids learn how to code using Scratch, a drag and drop programming language which teaches skills that are easily transferrable to real-world applications.

Kamibot moves with wheels that are connected to two independent direct current (DC) motors that convert direct electrical power to mechanical power, and its head is on a rotating pad. The robot’s direction, speed, direction of its head, and color of its LED lights can all be controlled with an app on a smartphone or tablet. The app can also be used to put Kamibot in line mode, where the robot will use its infrared sensors to follow a black line on the ground through obstacle courses that kids can create. The sensors can also be programmed using Scratch to send Kamibot on autonomous missions.Robot

The Kamibot can be customized from skins that are available on the website to print out. The skins are endless and include characters and blank templates for creative design. To hold the skins in place, magnets are embedded in the paper craft.

Kickstarter donations range from $1 to $1,780 and prizes include the Kamibot; twin packs of the robot; a Class Pack, which has 10 Kamibots, 10 micro USB cables, 10 Kamibot tank paper craft skins, 10 line tracing mats, 5 treasure hunt mats, free download of the iOS or Android app, and a free programming toolkit for PC and School Pack, which includes 2o Kamibots, 2o micro USB cables, 20 Kamibot tank paper craft skins, 20 line tracing mats, 10 treasure hunt mats, free download of the iOS or Android app, and a free programming toolkit for PC.
