Consider your Independence Day plans sorted. The Hamilton film is going to drop directly on Disney+ on July 3 — of *this* year!

Disney had intended to premiere the film of the Broadway masterpiece in October 2021 in theaters and release it on Disney+ sometime after that, but the company is all about making magic happen. Families will be able to watch it from their couches in just a couple of months.

The beloved musical about the forefathers of the U.S. was originally filmed in 2016. This means Lin-Manuel Miranda, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Daveed Diggs star in it along with the rest of the original cast. It features a “live capture” view of the Broadway production, a move which Disney says brings viewers an intimate glimpse of the show.

“[The director Tommy Kail has] given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house,” says Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Hamilton, “I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
