Lena and I read the story of Go! Go! Sports Girls Soccer Girl Cassie, from Dream Big Toy Co. This line of Read & Play doll and book sets, recommended for ages 5 and up, is meant to inspire and empower girls. Personally, I’m a big fan. Aside from promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through sports and fitness, it demonstrates to girls that it’s okay to do the right thing. It exemplifies being a team player, having a good attitude, and being a good sport. This type of positive role model is not always easy to come by, either in the real world or in popular culture, so it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to offer a child a doll and book set that are wholesome and share the same values I have for my children and family.

gogosportsgirlThe book is well written, and can easily be understood and enjoyed by girls ages 5 and up. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The doll is soft and sweet. Cassie comes dressed in her soccer uniform and has “Dream Big Score Goals” displayed on her belly. Other Read & Play book and doll combination sets include Swimmer Girl Suzi, Gymnastics Girl Maya, Dancer Girl M.C., Cheerleader Girl Roxy, and Runner Girl Ella.
