Screen shot 2014-06-26 at 11.42.26 AMGeneration Grit was designed to create a collection of character role models to encourage boys to live their best adventures. Creator Laura Hale, who felt like this concept was lacking in the boy toy space, wanted to make characters that displayed their strength through traits like empathy, kindness, and curiosity.

Each character will have an action figure, book, and accessories to inspire reading and imaginative play. The first character, Mac Mason, is a 14-year-old boy from 1943. The action figure is poseable and stands nearly 11 inches tall. The book is for readers ages 8 to 12 and follows Mac and his cousin on an adventure involving friendship, mystery, and courage. Mac’s accessories include a trunk, stool, letter box and radio, satchel, bedroll, and jacket.

Kickstarter donations range from $10 to $5,000 and includes t-shirts, socks, the Mac Mason adventure book, the complete Mac Mason set, and a backyard party.
