C is for cookie, but it’s also for cinnamon!

Next month, Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Abby Cadabby are coming back to the cereal aisle on boxes of new Sesame Street Cereal.

General Mills, maker of the famous Monster Cereals — Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Franken Berry, Fruity Yummy Mummy, and Frute Brute —is behind the delicious-sounding new cereals that come with short stories featuring a preschool monster: Elmo.

According to Hillary Balma, senior brand manager at General Mills, Sesame Street Cereals feature “key nutrients, delicious flavors, and playful learning opportunities to make breakfast that much more meaningful for parents and kids alike.”

The back of each colorful box opens like a book and includes short stories presented in English and Spanish. The stories feature prompts and questions to get kids engaged in learning and physical activity.

Now, if Sesame Street Cereal sounds familiar, you’re not wrong! Other companies, including Post and Earth’s Best, have produced Sesame Street cereals over the years, but it still seems like a missed opportunity that no one has done ElmO’s or a Cookie Monster cereal that competes with Cookie Crisp. Of course, the parent in me knows that’s because even for a Monster, cookies are just a “sometimes” treat!
