Yesterday kicked off the annual, week-long celebration of Dr. Seuss‘ birthday, and this year there is a new, educational Dr. Seuss app to kick things off.

The app, Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing AR Alphabet!, is based on the bestselling Dr. Seuss’s ABC. This the first augmented reality (AR) experience released for a Dr. Seuss title, and the app is part of a series of digital educational experiences that Dr. Seuss Enterprises is releasing in partnership with Sugar Creative.

Kids can interact with the Seussian characters in multiple modes with the app. Story mode takes them through the alphabet sequentially (from Aunt Annie’s Alligator to Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz), while they can select a chapter of the book to hear an animated story with the app’s A to Z feature. Finally, the app has a Sandbox feature that kids can use to select animated characters and create a unique, AR world.

The app is available for purchase now from the Apple App Store and Google Play for $3.99.
