Marvel Battlegrounds is the first play set to introduce four-player arcade brawler gameplay to Disney Infinity. Players will get to engage in the ultimate rumble as Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains struggle to gain control of Wakanda’s most valuable resource, Vibranium. The ever-growing clash creates factions as the war stretches to the cosmic battlegrounds of space. Players will battle through 12 levels across eight dynamic arenas.
Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Vision will join the roster of more than 25 playable Marvel characters, including Captain America The First Avenger, Hulkbuster, Ultron, and all of the characters from Disney Infinity (2.0 Edition): Marvel Super Heroes—a feature that gives Marvel Battlegrounds the most playable characters than any previous Disney Infinity play set. The new line of characters includes costumes inspired by the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War, releasing in theaters May 6. More characters are on the way.
Ant-Man can shrink to the size of an ant but increases his strength to pack a whopping punch; Black Panther defends his homeland with acrobatic skills and legendary claws; and Vision is a brave and noble synthetic warrior who will fight to bring peace to the world. Black Suit Spider-Man will also be released as an individual character for the first time, previously only available with the PlayStation Vita version of Disney Infinity 2.0, as a response to fans requesting the stand-alone figure.
New Marvel Battlegrounds–themed Power Disc Packs will be sold separately and contains Cosmic Cube Blast, unleashing a powerful energy blast on nearby foes; Darkhawk’s Blast, which lets players blast obstacles with a powerful energy beam; Nova Corps Strike, which calls upon the Nova Corps to unleash a tactical strike from above; and Ghost Rider’s Motorcycle, which lets users take a ride on the wild side with Ghost Rider’s flaming motorcycle.
The details were revealed on “Disney Infinity Next,” a new online program that gives fans a look at the past, present, and future of Disney Infinity, directed by feedback from fans. Disney Infinity will also focus on development efforts on adding more play sets and characters based on the biggest events coming from Disney this year to the 3.0 edition of the game, directly responding to consumer feedback to extend the life of Starter Packs and increase the variety of content.
Specifically, four new play sets compatible with Disney Infinity 3.0 will be released this year from the core brands at The Walt Disney Co.: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. The new play sets will ensure that Disney Infinity 3.0 has the largest collection of content released inside a Disney video game. Additional details will be released throughout the year.
Additions of big events coming to Disney Infinity began today as new characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde and Power Discs based Walt Disney Animation’s Zootopia are available now in stores worldwide. Creators worked with directors of the movie to share their vision behind bringing Judy and Nick as payable characters in Disney Infinity.
In addition, the Disney vault was opened to bring Baloo into Disney Infinity, to mark the occasion of Jon Favreau’s live-action remake of the classic Disney animated film, The Jungle Book. Bringing Baloo on board is also a response of fans asking for classic Disney animated characters to come to Disney Infinity.
The second episode of “Disney Infinity Next” will be released in the coming months and is slated to share news from Pixar.
