Debbie and Friends is the fun, family music-making act that is at it again with their new album, Variety Show, released in November. The album is available on NewSound Kids, Amazon, iTunes, and other specialty retailers. Variety Show is a collection of upbeat story songs ranging from pop and rock to world-beat. The songs focus on important messages for kids, including self-esteems, pursuing dreams, and celebrating family. While the song features Debbie and Friends originals, many familiar characters play a part, including Cinderella, Pinocchio, and Snow White; the 1960s classic, “Purple People Eater” is featured as well, though it’s performed in a unique, new way. I’d say my favorite tune from the album is an inventive, a cappella rendition of “Wimoweh (The Lion Sleeps Tonight), as it certainly takes me back to my own childhood. This album is correctly titled “variety,” as there is a sound for every member and style in the family!
