As a kid, I hosted many tea parties with my dolls and stuffed animals, gatherings that were often filled with long silences as my fellow party goers were left speechless by my musical stylings of the Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls. Once the entertainment was finished, I usually offered my party guests their own cup for tea.

But now there’s a toy that can offer kids a vessel for their beverages instead.

Cuppatinis, from Jakks Pacific, are a new line of dolls that transform into tea cups. There are six different dolls to choose from: Cha Cha Chai, Carmela la Crème, Rose Hippensip, Mocha Lisa, Lola Vander, and Jasmint. Each transformative dish has her own unique style, with all six being unified by funky hairstyles and brightly colored skirts.

Switching from doll to cup is a lot simpler than I imagine Mrs. Potts and Chip’s transition when a spell was casted on the castle in Beauty and the Beast. The skirt of the doll’s dress easily flips into a cup that now has a pair of eyes and brightly colored hair peeping over the brim. Each doll also comes with her own tea cup, which adds almost an Inception-type layer to the Cuppatini universe as the tea cup also has a tea cup.

Though I wouldn’t encourage actually using a Cuppatini as a means of holding a hot beverage, the doll/cup combo toy would certainly be a great addition to a tea party that includes a lot of imaginative play.

Kids can get their dolls individually or with a tea party accessory of a table or tea cart. In addition to the dolls, Jakks has made a play set, webisodes, and a free app to go along with the new line. The further kids delve into the Cuppatini world, the more they can bake, dance and, of course, host a tea party along with their new pals.
