Color, wash, repeat: Those are the three magical words — and instructions to play — associated with Scribble Scrubbie activity toys. Word on the street is that there’s a new Scribble Scrubbie Pets set for the holiday season, so as a self-proclaimed Scribble Scrubbie lover, I had to test it out for myself.
The Grooming Truck, made for kids ages 3 and up, builds on the popularity of past Scribble Scrubbie items in a whole new style. In true Crayola fashion, the truck features bright, bold colors; a detachable trailer; a scrub brush and tub; and a window that folds out into a bathtub scene. It also comes with a working spray pump that looks just like one from an actual grooming salon, adding some super-cute, realistic elements to the play.
The set comes with Figaro the basset hound and Wilbur the French bulldog figures for kids to customize. They have a soft, fuzzy feel to them, and each has a completely blank coat to act as the canvas for kids’ creativity. Kids can use one of the three included markers — in vibrant orange, blue, and purple colors — to decorate and design their pooches. Kids can also use any other Crayola Washable markers they already have at home.
Kids can place the Scribble Scrubbie pets onto any of the spots on the playset to draw on a mustache onto Wilbur, give Figaro stripes, or use their imaginations to create whatever design they want. They can also use other Scribble Scubbie animals, including the safari-themed pets, to join in on the fun. The colors glide on the pets smoothly, and are as bright as if you drew with it on a piece of paper.
Once each animal is styled to the max, kids can load up the truck for the pets to go on pretend adventures, like making a pit stop at brunch or playing games in the park. The playset has working wheels, so all of the glammed-up pets are guaranteed a smooth ride.
When kids want to redesign their pets, they can put them in the trailer, hose them off with the spray pump with water, and scrub off the colors with the brush. The pets’ coats will go back to being squeaky clean. Just wash them to start again!
And, when playtime is over, everything neatly folds back into the truck, including three slots for the markers, ensuring an efficient storage solution and no lost pieces.
