2014 Hottest Toys Bungees

Bungees, from Jazwares, is a game that lets kids compete, collect, score, and strategize—all without screens, cords, Wi-Fi, or even batteries. Players must flick their Bungees from the ramp into the arena, and collect points as their Bungees stick to the hexagonal pieces in the ring. There are three rounds; Round 1 lets players start off closest to the arena, while Round 3 starts the furthest away. Players can also utilize the flippers on their side of the playing board to fling their Bungees for a second chance at points, or to deflect an opponent’s Bungee when it falls on their flipper.

There’s really nothing that I don’t like about Bungees, so I’ll start with the board itself. The hexagonal arena is large, and stores in two pieces that snap together easily. The ramps and walls easily slide into place, and the whole thing feels sturdy and durable. Kids love stuff that’s larger than life, and this is bigger than your typical board game without being too big to be practical.

My favorite part of Bungees is the Bungees themselves. They’re little figures with magnetic bottoms for sticking to the board. What’s great about Bungees is that kids can collect them—there are dozens to choose from and collect. Their small size and well-balanced form make them perfect for displaying as well as playing, and their fun names and vibrant colors get kids excited.

Bungees has lots of ways to expand play, including Bungee Disks and Bungees Cards. Kids can also tally points in different ways, according to the Bungees themselves, the disks, and points scored. It’s a game that everyone can enjoy—parents, kids, teens, babysitters—and it’s easy to get the hang of and keeps players entertained with its various ways to play.
