Betty Crocker is teaming up with Barbie and the Barbie Dream Gap Project to help kids get inspired through culinary science and STEM-infused cooking experiments.
Launching today on International Women’s Day, the BettyLab will feature step-by-step tutorials that kids can follow to make rock candy, ice cream in a bag, a s’mores cake in a slow cooker, soda pop cupcakes, and more edible creations while explaining the chemistry behind each project.
The Barbie Dream Gap Project first launched in 2018 as a global initiative to give girls the resources and support they need to continue believing in themselves before experiencing the confidence drop known as the “dream gap.” Betty Crocker is donating $100,000 to the initiative to help inspire all parents to build girls’ confidence in STEM skills. Betty Crocker is also introducing a special-edition “Baking Better Futures” strawberry cake mix available at retailers for a limited time.
Families can visit the BettyLab at bettycrocker.com/bettylab for video recipes to test, try, and discover tasty experiments, including a rock candy tutorial that helps teach kids about the role of crystallization in candy-making.
