Anthony Ant Goes to France, by Julie Bettendorf, is a sweet tale of a tiny ant and his ladybug friend as they travel through Paris, France. The illustrations are cute and show the two bugs on their adventures to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, and other landmarks in the City of Light. The story is told through rhyme, and even includes a bit of French language incorporated into the images, such as Avenue des Champs-Elysees, Jardin des Tuileries, and more. I like that it encourages kids to try to find and pronounce the French words, while letting them apply the context of the word to make the connection. Anthony Ant Goes to France is a good book for teaching kids about Parisian culture and a good introduction into French.
