Simon Swipe, from Hasbro Gaming, is a new take on the classic four-color memory game. Players ages 8 and up can pick from four game modes: party game, levels game, classic game, and extreme game. The player holds the game by the center, and must tap, swipe, or U-turn as the game prompts. I like the way the game utilizes touch screen technology; it is fitting for this day and age, and kids can identify with it. I found that mixing swipes and taps is extremely challenging—even when not in extreme mode. This adds to the fun, as it makes it that much more pleasing to pass a level. There’s also something very satisfying about the physical swiping, and the longer the swipe, the better. Swipes can be the length of just one color or multiple. When players pass a level, the game congratulates with a fun musical tune and lights up. Another excellent feature of the game is the volume control—it can be set to a range of volumes from loud to mute, so kids can have fun while parents avoid headaches. The game turns off after 15 seconds of inactivity.
Simon Swipe is yet another great iteration of the game from Hasbro, and is ideal for car trips, family game night, or an unplugged way for kids to stay entertained.
