Lum Lums Light-Up Friendship

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

Lum Lums and NuNusLum Lums, from Imperial Toy, is a new collection of pocket-sized dolls, pets, and accessories that light up with the magical power of friendship. When girls hold their Lum Lums by both of their hands, all the dolls in the circle magically light up. Girls can include an unlimited number of Lum Lums dolls and friends into their glowing circle of friendship. Each of the four Lum Lums, Floressa, Trindi, Yummie, and Valerina, comes with her own pet NuNu. The NuNus light up when their noses touch each other or the Lum Lums’ hands. Using simple circuit technology, the Lum Lums will have girls ages 3 and up enamored by the magical light-up effects.

Each Lum Lums has her own personality and comes with tons of cute gummy accessories girls will love, such as easy-on-and-off hair charms, bracelets, skirts, and shoes. Their twinkling eyes and cute hairstyles will appeal to girls—but aside from moving heads, the dolls are not articulated or poseable. This didn’t seem to bother our toy testers one bit, but just something to keep in mind. All of the Lum Lums accessories can be interchanged between dolls, so there are tons of options to keep them looking their best. The pet NuNus are also super adorable, and they light up even brighter than the dolls. At an ultra affordable price point, these dolls bring tons of play value to kids. Designed for kids ages 4 and up, each doll comes with a pet and five accessories for $15.99.

Kids Are In for a Wild Ride with Razor’s Crazy Cart

Saturday, November 23rd, 2013

We get to try out lots of cool toys here at The Toy Insider. Games, tablets, play sets—you name it! While testing products is always a good time, ride-ons are particularly enjoyable. Perhaps it’s because they go fast. Maybe it’s the thrill of using an outdoor toy indoors (gasp!). Or maybe it’s that toys such as Razor’s Crazy Cart are so much fun to ride, all of us here in the office wish that it came in adult size.

As the first brave one to crunch myself into the frame of the Crazy Cart, I didn’t really know what I was in for. Once turned on, I eased onto the pedal—and promptly zoomed down a narrow path that I couldn’t turn around in. After placing the Crazy Cart back into the center space in the room, I was able to play with the drift bar. By pulling it all the way up and stepping on the pedal, the Crazy Cart spins in place, and fast! Riders can also control their drift by lifting the drift bar at different heights. The higher it’s lifted, the tighter the turn. To reverse, turn the steering wheel 180 degrees, and then step on the pedal. Controlling the Crazy Cart is easy, thanks to its 360+ degree turning.

The Crazy Cart can reach speeds of 12 mph, and its battery can run for up to 40 minutes of continuous use. It features a seatbelt and flag for safety, and its 55.2 lb metal frame feels solid and anchored.
