2014 Hottest Toys Squashed game from PlaSmart
Squashed, from PlaSmart Inc., brings competition right to your coffee table, playroom floor, or just about any place with a flat surface. Designed for two to four players ages 6 and up, game play takes place on the Squashed cube. Players place the cube on the included play mat and push the pawns into their designated spaces. Players take turns rolling the die and moving their pawns the indicated number of spaces in any direction (except diagonally). If a player passes over or lands on another player’s pawn, he or she gets to squash the pawn inside the cube. If a player lands in one of the four spaces surrounding the King piece on top of the cube, he or she can flip the cube in any direction and squash all of the pawns on that side, which could result in major pawn-loss of other players. After the cube is flipped, the King piece must be replaced to the center space on the top of the cube. The last player with remaining pawns wins the game.

Squashed is a high-energy game that is super easy to learn but entertaining enough for mom and dad to have a good time playing with their kids. With endless move options, it never gets old. You can play multiple games in one sitting since game play only takes about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of players. Best of all, the pieces fit neatly inside the Squashed cube for easy storage and travel to Grandma’s house.
