If you need to know how much love I have for DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2 all you need to do is read my review of the insanely amazing film here. With that said, I’m also a huge fan of the awesome licensed toys that Spin Master has created for kids of all ages. For the older dragon lovers like myself, Spin Master and Ionix bring all of the scenes, battles, and—of course—the dragons, from the big screen into the homes of kids ages 8 and up.

Spinmaster.HTTYD2IonixI have to admit, I am definitely not the best builder on the block, but Ionix makes it simple and easy to build shapeshifting bricks into Toothless, Cloudjumper, Stormfly, Meatlug, Barf & Belch, and Hookfang—and trust me, they look just as good offscreen. Each creation has its own booklet full of step-by-step instructions with BIG pictures to make sure kids get each step right. Kids can also go online at dragons.ionixbricks.com for even more instructions, videos, and more. The directions are simple and clear and the reward when what you built actually looks like the picture is soo worth it.

I put myself to the ultimate test today and built up the How to Train Your Dragon 2 Giant Toothless Battle Set, equipped with exclusive Drago and Hiccup figures, which look completely convincing (The hiccup figure even has a peg leg!). With Hiccup alongside Toothless and armed with his Dragon Blade fire sword kids can recreate the final battle scene against Drago and his war machine. Hiccup and Toothless will forever win in my battles, but kids can role play and make up their own endings to the movie (just don’t tell me about it, I’m very protective over my Toothless).

This product and more from Spin Master will be on display at The Big Toy Book’s Sweet Suite 14 event in New York City on July 17. Part of Blogger Bash, a two-day conference connecting bloggers and brands nationwide, Sweet Suite will feature the hottest toys and games for the upcoming holiday season.
