Look out kids, this game’s got bite.
Nibbled, from Winning Moves Games, is a new action card game featuring some friendly little fish. Designed for kids ages 4 and up, the box includes 16 plastic clip-on fish, a sheet of eye stickers for added realism, a deck of 52 cards, and an instruction sheet.
The object of Nibbled is simple: be the first player to get rid of all your fish by clipping them on other players. It’s a silly way of winning, but it’s quirky enough to be fun.
To start, all players take an equal number of fish for themselves. In a four-player game for example, each participant takes four fish. In a two-player game, each player would claim eight. Next, kids get to clip all of their fish to their body by clamping their plastic mouths onto their sleeves, collars, bracelets, or hair. They pack a mean enough bite to successfully latch on, but aren’t powerful enough to cause a pinch should kids get their skin caught.
Once kids are ready to go, it’s time to start fishing. Each card within the deck has pictures of one, two, or three fish in one of five colors. One by one, players get to guess what color fish is on the face down card atop the pile. Should they guess correctly, they get to remove as many fish clips from their body as there are fish on the card.
Things get more interesting with the introduction of Frenzy cards, which let every player clip one of their fish to an opponent at the same time. It’s makes for a wacky sequence that can completely change the outcome of the game.
Nibbled is a unique card game that ultimately helps kids with color recognition, counting, and basic math skills.
