MLPEven the youngest readers can get in on the My Little Pony fun with the new My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie’s Sister app, from Playdate Digital, in partnership with Hasbro. This interactive storybook app delves into the importance of friendship and acceptance. It reminds kids that it’s okay to be different, especially when you’re getting to know someone. The story stresses the importance of looking beyond superficial differences and understanding the truly important things you have in common when you’re meeting someone new.

The story teaches these lessons through a visit from Pinkie Pie’s sister, Maud Pie—who, quite honestly, has a very April Ludgate-like attitude that may make her my favorite pony to date. Before Maud’s arrival, Pinkie is convinced that all of the ponies in Ponyville will be best friends with her sister. However, when Maud arrives, the ponies are confused because Maud doesn’t have the same interests or ways of expressing herself as Pinkie Pie, or any of the other ponies for that matter. Ultimately, the ponies learn that although they may not have the same fashion sense, hobbies, or interests, the most important thing they do have in common is how much they love Pinkie Pie. (Hooray!)

This app is great for My Little Pony fans because it features ALL of the Ponyville ponies—Pinkie Pie, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity—and it marks Maud Pie’s first appearance in a digital storybook app. The story features Read to Me and Read Along modes for different levels of early reading skills, helping to build vocabulary and reading comprehension. Each page also features interactive My Little Pony actions and voices, which really bring the story to life for young readers.

My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie’s Sister is available on iTunes now, and is available in five different languages.
