Denizens of the jungle are here to teach kids about animals, shapes, and instruments while they play.

My L’il Bongo Shape Sorter, from Kidz Delight, is more than an ordinary toy that lets kids insert shapes into their proper pegs—this electronic shape sorter can do all kinds of things that seek to teach and entertain kids.

The L’il Bongo comes with five different shapes, each with its own color and animal printed on it. The tree-shaped bongo features three different modes, each of which can be activated at the press of a button. In Music mode, when kids insert a shape, they’ll hear a short jingle by whatever instrument is on the shape. Tapping the drum on top will allow kids to hear a fun drum beat to which they can dance. They can even tap the drum while another instrument is playing for more musical fun. Pressing the magnifying glass allows kids to hear the animal, shape, or instrument tied to a piece when inserted into its proper hole.

The real fun comes from Game mode, in which kids must insert the correct peg based whether they hear an animal, instrument, or shape. If kids get it right, they can keep challenging themselves to see how many they can get right in a row. If they get it wrong, the game encourages kids to try again when they’re ready. For Spanish-speaking children, or kids who want to start learning Spanish, the toy also has a Spanish mode. When not in use, all of the shapes can easily fit within the bongo itself for simple storage.

My L’il Bongo is a perfect educational toy for toddlers. It encourages kids to learn about fun and accessible subjects like animals and music through bright colors, fun games, and adorable sounds. Winning each challenge in game mode can be a rewarding experience, and exposing them to instruments and animals at young ages can help them develop an interest in learning.
