Funding Period: until March 18, 2015
Creator: Elemental Path
Stretch Goal: $100,000
Elemental Path has sought out to redefine the way kids play with their favorite toys. Under this premise, the company has launched its first product, CogniToys, on Kickstarter. The CogniToys Dino is a cute, cuddly dinosaur that is fun, playful and smart.
Elemental Path has combined its patent pending technology with IBM Watson’s cognitive computing and natural language processing capabilities to allow kids to directly engage in intelligent conversation with their toys. Watson is the first commercially available cognitive technology, which allows the toy to be brought to life with personality. It can listen and speak with kids while it evolves and learns.
CogniToys is speech enabled, so kids can speak directly to it. They can ask thousands of questions and receive age-appropriate answers, give commands to the it, hear stories, tell and listen to knock-knock jokes, and create a personality for the toy.
In addition, a number of custom modules are built into the play experience, which engage the child in educational play. These include rhyming, spelling, vocabulary, mathematics, and more. As kids interact with the dinosaur more, the content will become more challenging as the child learns. CogniToys is also Internet connected, which allows the play experience to constantly be improved over time.
CogniToys has already quadrupled its original Kickstarter goal, and the original goal was raised 24 hours after the campaign launched. Donations range from $1 to $1,000 and prizes include CogniToys Dinos and customized content for schools. The stretch goal of $100,000 unlocked two additional CogniToys Dino colors, pink and blue.
