JG and the BC Kids is an upcoming 2D animated film written by Janet Hubert and Yvette Kaplan, based on the book A Sneaker Feature, also written by Hubert. The movie brings street-smart and book-smart kids together to create life-smart kids. JG, the female superhero, and her band of dinosaurs mentor and encourage kids to believe in themselves. The movie is geared toward kids ages 5-9 and is set to launch in March.

Featuring two Black central characters, the film was created to help break stereotypes and represent characters from diverse backgrounds and cultures. After her son was born, writer and actress Hubert struggled to find toys, accessories, and stories that he could relate to, so she set out to create something that would inspire him and other kids like him.

The main characters are voiced by actors Raven Goodwin, Cheryl Alexander, Ezra Knight, Jasmine Hanes, Blaze Berdahl, Ahmad Maksoud, and Joey Taranto, while Hubert herself voices the narrator and several other characters. Hubert also played the original Vivian Banks on the first three seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in the early ‘90s, alongside Will Smith, who shared the trailer for the new film on his social media accounts.
